Stroke recovery needs ongoing monitoring of how patients move, so care teams can respond in time.
OSU's Wexner Medical Center asked us to build a way to monitor stroke patients' hand movement continuously and alert caregivers quickly.
A wearable solution that monitors hand movement during stroke recovery.
We developed a wearable solution that:
Tracks hand movement and distinguishes meaningful movements from incidental ones
Triggers alerts if no movement is detected for 10 minutes
Records movement history for analysis and transfer to paired devices
Records movement history for analysis and transfer to paired devices.
Vibrates and displays notifications every 10 minutes if minimal/no movement is detected, with customizable settings.

Advanced algorithms distinguish meaningful hand movements from incidental motions like typing or slight adjustments.
From a smartwatch app to a smartwatch and mobile platform.
A smartwatch application that monitors patients' hand movement.
A mobile application for movement data visualisation and provider dashboards.
